Made reservations and were seated right away. All the staff was really nice and attentive. They give you bread and a garlic olive spread which was delicious because the subtle olive flavor blends in perfectly with the garlic. I got the Cajun shrimp which were juicy and well seasoned. It comes with four jumbo shrimp and then there's like a palm sized portion of a soft breading under. I'm not sure what it's called but it was also really good and the roasted peppers complimented the whole dish so well. My date got the lollipop lamb chops (medium) and they were so juicy and perfect, we literally couldn't have asked for better. Not pictured are the garlic mashed potatoes we got as a side and they were so creamy and delicious. I have to say, the showstopper was the peanut butter creme brulee. The top layer was burnt just right and thin and it was really creamy and so flavorful that you can't stop eating it but you also never want it to end. It's literally the best creme brulee I've ever had and I went to a tech high school for culinary so that's saying something. The atmosphere was nice and tranquil and the bathroom was also well decorated and clean. 10/10 would highly recommend if you want to spend a good bit of money for a great night out.
Visited for the first time last night prior to a show at The Garde. We sat at the bar and had tremors service, then came the food. We had calamari caprese for an appetizer, amazing. Then my main course of Veal Marsala came. Also amazing! I highly recommend Tony Ds when youre in New London.
We had a wonderful time. Food was excellent. Reminded us of our experience at Singapore Grill early in our relationship. Excellent Italian food and great ambience!
This is hands down the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. The food is incredible, the staff is so kind and efficient, and the ambience is cozy. We got the crab cakes, ceasar salad, truffle mushroom fettuccine, chicken genovese, and the matilda cake, and I will be dreaming of every single dish when I go to bed tonight. My boyfriend and I are harsh critics when it comes to food and have no problem sending things back when we need to, but I can't say I have a single criticism for Tony D's, which is refreshing.
Went here for dinner at 630 on Sunday night, called in to reserve the night before. It was a great experience overall with great food and great service. The young servers we had was very attentive. Our food did not take long, despite Sunday night it was not too busy so maybe that was why, but it was raining and gloomy outside so weather may have impacted lesser crowd situation. We had oyster for appetizer. I normally do NOT like oysters, at all, but I actually liked it here! We then tried chocolate martini drink, wow,it was delicious! My main dish was the anti pasta shrimp dish, it was enough for me as my dinner meal. It was 4 jumbo shrimp with bell peppers, fried bread of some sort underneath. The shrimp was very flavorful and it was THE best shrimp I had from a restaurant!! I had A LOT of shrimp dishes(I love shrimp) but this really was the best . Oh, the free bread and dipping sauce was good!! Overall, The food was the best Italian food I have ever had! I definitely would come back here again.
Excellent food and atmosphere We were attending a show at The Garde arts center and went for dinner prior to the show. Informed them we had a show to make and they had our apps salad and meal done in a timely manner to make the show. If you are planning on doing this give yourself at least 90 minutes so as to be able to enjoy the meal. All our meals were excellent. 5 of us and no complaints about any of the meals. Swordfish special was excellent and had great sauce and finish....others had the gnocci with chicken as well as the spagetti bolognese. Have been there numerous times and never have had a bad meal.
Great food! Generous portions, delicious cocktails, friendly waitstaff. I was having a really bad day and stopped in on a whim. It turned my whole night around. So happy to have found this spot. I’ll definitely be coming back
I grew up in upstate New York and was raised in a full Italian family. We used to grow the vegetables out back, grow the tomatoes which were then Jarred by my great aunt and grandmother and then used for The gravy. But whenever we would go get Italian food, there was an Italian pork store nearby and an Italian bakery. And going to eat here brings me back to that time frame in my life. Such fantastic food. Very relaxed atmosphere. Attentive staff Always going above and beyond.
